Use the included child theme to keep custom code safe when Lumen updates. Follow the steps below — it takes just a few minutes.

Before you begin#

  • WordPress 6.4 or newer and PHP 8.0+
  • Your Envato purchase code (Downloads → License certificate)

Steps#

  1. Find lumen-child.zip#

    It is in the full download package, in the Child Theme folder.

  2. Upload and activate it#

    Upload it like any theme. Lumen must stay installed — the child theme depends on it.

  3. Copy your settings#

    Lumen → Tools → “Copy settings from parent” brings over colors, menus and widgets.

Tip

Put custom PHP in the child theme’s functions.php, never in Lumen itself.
