# Lock Nimbus with Face ID or a passcode

> Require Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint or a passcode to open Nimbus or a single note.

App lock keeps your notes private even when someone else is using your phone.

## Turn on app lock

1. Go to **Settings → Privacy → App lock**.
2. Choose Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint, and set a backup passcode.
3. Pick when to lock: immediately, after one minute or after five minutes.

## Lock a single note

Open the note and tap **⋯ → Lock note**. Locked notes are encrypted on your device with a key only you hold.

Warning

We cannot recover a locked note if you forget its passcode.
